Adopting a pet
is a BIG responsibility
that should be taken
very seriously.

Please be sure
that you are ready,
for the sake
of the animal!

Thinking of adopting a Pet?

Here are the rules for adopting a pet from The Humane Society of Olney:

1. ADOPTERS MUST LIVE IN RICHLAND COUNTY, IL, (NO EXCEPTIONS!) as we inspect each prospective home for suitability.

2. Adopters must provide food, water, shelter, excercise, vet care, yearly vaccinations, humane treatment and, most importantly, lots of LOVE!

3. Adopted animals are not allowed to be tied up any longer than 3 hours each day. Any longer is inhumane.

To adopt, you must first complete an application at the office. If approved, your home will then be inspected. Following that, and upon adoption, animals must go immediately to a vet for all vaccinations (parvo, distemper, leukemia and rabies). Within two weeks of being adopted animals must be spayted or neutered.

All animals are placed on a trial basis until the adoption is final.
